Overview
Jamnagar and wetlands around Jamnagar are at their best when visited during winter months. These relatively unexplored and less frequented regions are home to a large number of migratory bird species. This comprehensive itinerary will cover a variety of habitats and ecosystems, viz.- Â a lake with huge congregations of birds right in the heart of city (Lakhota Lake), coastal region with a variety of sea life (Marine National Park - Narara) and a unique wetland ideal for birdwatching (Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary).
Marine National Park at Narara :Â
India’s first Marine National Park,  this is one of the rare places in the world where one can look at corals without having to dive into the water. At the time of low tide, one just has to walk in the water (about 1 to 2 feet deep) and watch the fascinating underwater world of corals. The Marine National Park & Sanctuary has coral reefs, mangroves, sea-grass beds, mudflats, network of creeks and other microhabitats which support rich marine life & bird life. Here one has the chance to spot octopus, puffer fish, sea turtles, lobsters, crabs, dolphins, jelly fish, star fish, sea anemones, colourful corals, exotic marine flowering plants, etc.
Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary :
The wetland ecosystem at Khijadiya Bird Sanctuary is unique, with sea water on one side and fresh water on the other. This will provide excellent opportunities to observe and photograph bird species like Common and Demoiselle Cranes, Flamingos, Pelicans and Black necked Stork etc.Â
