Fort Ghangad – Korigad Dual Trek
One Day TripsOverview
Ghangad Fort is located on the western side of the Mulshi Backwaters. This region is also called the Korbarase Maval. The fort is surrounded by other forts like Korigad, Telbaila and Sudhagad and yet it is quite lonely and separate from the others. Â It was originally occupied by Koli Samant and then was later annexed by Adil Shah and then later on with the Marathas. Ekole is the base village for going to the fort.
Korigad Fort is located about half hour drive from Ghangad towards Lonavala. With a height of 930 mts, it offers a fantastic view of the Aamby Valley city built by Sahara Group. Atop the fort, hails a temple of its patron goddess Koraidevi. Interesting part is the 2 km intact wall along the periphery where one can walk. Also, the massive gate is intact. Also, one can witness the Laxmi Toph (Canon) near the Koraidevi temple.
