It’s the ideal short Himalayan escape — tranquil, refreshing, and filled with the warmth of mountain hospitality.
Day 1: Arrive Chandigarh – Drive to Thanedar (195 km / approx. 6 hrs)
Your flight reaches Chandigarh early in the morning. After a quick breakfast stop, begin your scenic drive to Thanedar, a charming Himalayan hamlet near Narkanda. The journey winds through pine forests and apple orchards with beautiful views of the Sutlej Valley. Arrive by afternoon and check in at your cozy cottage.
The rest of the day is at leisure to relax or take a gentle walk through the surrounding orchards and village lanes, soaking in the mountain air.
Day 2: Walk to the Old Church & Visit Tani Jubbar Lake
After breakfast, enjoy a beautiful walk to the old British-era church, following the same trail once used by the legendary Samuel Stokes, who introduced apple cultivation to this region. The path winds through pine and deodar trees, where you may spot mountain birds and hear the soft gurgle of nearby streams. You’ll also see the small cave where Stokes is believed to have meditated. The walk ends at the charming St. Mary’s Church, and nearby lies the village school — lively and full of energy if it’s not closed for the New Year holidays.
Later, drive to Tani Jubbar Lake, a small but picturesque mountain lake surrounded by tall cedars. Visit the quaint local Nag Devta temple by the lake before returning to your stay.
As evening sets in, gather around a warm bonfire under the starlit sky and usher in the New Year in peace and togetherness.

This morning, drive to Hatu Peak (3,400 m) to visit the revered Hatu Mata Temple, set against stunning mountain backdrops. From here, take a leisurely 45-minute hike along the ridge to Jawbagh, a serene meadow offering panoramic views of snow-clad peaks and surrounding valleys. It’s a refreshing and easy walk suitable for anyone with reasonable fitness. Return by afternoon and spend the rest of the day relaxing at your stay, enjoying the crisp mountain weather.
