Monsoon – Most Magical Season to Visit Binsar wildlife Sanctuary
Binsar is beautiful in all seasons, but one of the most beautiful time to visit Binsar wildlife Sanctuary is the monsoon. By end of June as skies become heavy with moisture laden clouds and the distant rumble of thunder comes closer home, a beautiful transformation occurs. As the first showers drench the forest in torrential rain, the dryness of summer is washed away and the trees change into a moist, more verdant shade of green. Mosses and ferns come alive, cladding tree trunks and forming beautiful vertical gardens on trees. Seasonal streams start to flow all around and there is that soothing sound of gurgling water, much like a Zen garden. All the natural springs get recharged as the forest becomes saturated with water.

Binsar wildlife Sanctuary : A Living Forest
Mushrooms of all shapes, colours and textures start to make an appearance. Along with these come slugs, snails and earthworms, chugging along feeding slowly on the forest floor. There also are leeches! Overall, there is a lot of green and life that is bursting out of every nook and cranny. The best part, however is, the way Binsar gets transformed into a cloud forest. Clouds rise in the valleys and the hills look like islands of green floating on a sea of fluffy white. The views are clear one moment, the next moment they are shrouded in mist. The curtain of mist lifts and falls, revealing and concealing, and it is a joy to watch this play.

Travelling Tips for Monsoon in Binsar
- When visiting Binsar in monsoon, a good pair of hiking shoes, preferably goretex is highly recommended as trails become slippery.
- So is a good rain jacket or a rain poncho and if possible rain proof pants. Your apparel should be of the quick dry type. Cotton trousers or cargos are not preferable as they may not dry for a long time if they get wet.
- It is better to carry leech socks, or thick long socks in which one could stuff their pants. This prevents leeches from reaching the skin. We carry salt water spray or just plain salt to dislodge leeches if they latch on.
- A warm layer of clothes is important because when it rains it can turn cold.
- And most important is a go-with-the-flow attitude! All outdoor activities are dependent on weather, which is not in our control.
- Roads may be slippery—opt for a sturdy vehicle and avoid late-night travel.
