Tour Overview

The Satpura Slow Safari Experience offers a rare and immersive wildlife journey through one of India’s most unique and lesser-explored national parks. Unlike conventional tiger reserves, Satpura National Park is known for its intimate and low-impact safari experiences including walking safaris, canoe rides, jeep drives, and guided forest explorations. Combined with the scenic hill station of Pachmarhi and the cultural gateway city of Bhopal, this itinerary blends wildlife, nature, and relaxation in a refined and unhurried manner. Designed for travelers seeking meaningful encounters with nature rather than rushed sightseeing, the journey allows guests to experience Central India’s forests at a slower pace while enjoying comfortable wilderness lodges and expert naturalist guidance throughout.

Tour Plan

  • Day 01 – Arrival at Bhopal
Arrival at Bhopal Airport or Railway Station followed by transfer to the hotel. Depending on arrival time, explore key highlights of the city including Upper Lake viewpoints, local markets, or a visit to the Tribal Museum, which offers deep insight into Madhya Pradesh’s indigenous cultures. Bhopal serves as a calm introduction to Central India before entering the wilderness. Evening at leisure with optional lakeside walk. Overnight stay in Bhopal.
  • Day 02 – Bhopal to Satpura National Park
After breakfast, drive towards Satpura National Park via scenic countryside and rural landscapes (approx. 4–5 hours). On arrival near Madhai gate, check in to the wildlife lodge surrounded by forests and riverine ecosystems. The afternoon is kept relaxed to allow guests to settle into the natural environment. Optional village walk or riverside exploration may be arranged. Evening briefing by naturalist about Satpura’s unique safari experiences and wildlife diversity. Overnight stay near Satpura National Park.
  • Day 03 – Satpura Walking Safari & Canoe Experience
Begin the day with an early guided walking safari in designated buffer zones accompanied by trained forest guides and naturalists. Walking safaris allow close observation of tracks, birds, insects, and forest ecology rarely noticed during vehicle safaris. In the afternoon, enjoy a canoe safari along the Denwa River, offering chances to spot crocodiles, birdlife, and wildlife approaching the water’s edge. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay near Satpura.
  • Day 04 – Jeep Safari & Forest Exploration
Early morning jeep safari into Satpura National Park exploring diverse terrain including teak forests, sandstone formations, and grassland patches. The park is home to leopards, sloth bears, gaur, wild dogs, and occasionally tigers. Afternoon free for nature interpretation walks, birdwatching, or simply enjoying the peaceful wilderness setting. Optional night safari may be arranged in buffer areas (subject to permissions). Overnight stay near Satpura.
  • Day 05 – Satpura to Pachmarhi
After breakfast, drive to Pachmarhi (approx. 2–3 hours), Madhya Pradesh’s only hill station located within the Satpura ranges. On arrival, check in to the hotel and spend the afternoon exploring viewpoints or local markets. Surrounded by forests, waterfalls, and sandstone cliffs, Pachmarhi provides a refreshing contrast to the wildlife experience. Evening at leisure enjoying the cool hill climate. Overnight stay in Pachmarhi.
  • Day 06 – Pachmarhi Sightseeing & Nature Walks
After breakfast, explore Pachmarhi’s natural and historical attractions including Bee Falls, Jata Shankar Cave Temple, Pandav Caves, and scenic viewpoints offering panoramic views of the Satpura ranges. The day focuses on relaxed exploration with short walks through forested trails and peaceful landscapes. Afternoon free for photography, café visits, or sunset viewpoints. Overnight stay in Pachmarhi.
  • Day 07 – Pachmarhi – Bhopal Departure
After breakfast, drive back to Bhopal (approx. 5–6 hours). Transfer to airport or railway station for onward journey, concluding a slow and immersive Central India wildlife and nature experience.
